Crypts Of Time

What thinketh thou oh wise one

      sitting there before me?

On thine face finds I the

      wrinkles of time past

What richness must be their mystery

If only I could read the story

      they tell.

But why try to perceive I their words?

Why not I ask he how they formed?

Be it fear, shyness, shrinkage from the unknown?

What thinketh he of my words?

Have I the strength to listen if they be harsh?

Have I the will to listen if they be . . .
