Yet we devise games so as not to notice
to give us something to do
play baseball, what a funny game!
work to support institutions and ourselves
get paid in paper and metal things
spend on metal machines with rubber wheels
that move only on meticulously paved roads
buy more clothes cause last year’s are
out of style
out of style?!
break, destroy, consume
build, construct, defecate

In my backyard

The trees that they destroyeth, me teacheth
The water that they fouleth, me nourish
The air that thee cloudeth, me breatheth
too busy with the game of life are we
to see the answer before us
our own problems do we create
to blame it all on something else
and die confused, lost, lonely
say do we “is that all there is?”
before it is too late, stop the game
